How does Payday Advance work?

At Payday Advance we like to keep things simple. Our payday loan process is fast, flexible and easy to understand. You’re only minutes away from taking control of your situation… GET STARTED NOW!

1. Apply online

To apply for a loan with Payday Advance, simply fill in the online application form and read & accept the Loan Contract.

Once you have completed the application, you will receive a copy of the loan contract and your direct debit authority by email.

You must meet the following criteria:

  • You need to be at least 18 years old and a NZ citizen or resident currently living in New Zealand;
  • You need to have been permanently employed with the same employer for at least 3 months;
  • For our ‘Need A Lift’, ‘Going Places’ & ‘In Motion’ loans, you need to be earning at least $350 a week (after tax);
  • For our ‘Moving Forward’ loans, you need to be earning at least $800 a week (after tax) – only available to eligible Returning clients;
  • Your pay needs to be credited on a regular basis into your own NZ bank account that has been open for at least 3 months;
  • You are not currently Bankrupt, under a No Asset Procedure or Summary Instalment Order;
  • You have access to the Internet and a mobile phone.

Please note this is a guide only – in certain circumstances we may not be able to offer you a loan.


2. Send the documents

Once you have applied for a cash loan, you will need to provide the following supporting documents, so the lending team can begin processing your application;

  • Latest 3 months’ worth of bank statements
  • Valid Photo ID (Passport, NZ Driver’s Licence or Firearm’s Licence)
  • A selfie of you holding your Photo ID (see our guide here)
  • Proof of address (less than 3 months old)
  • Any other document we may request to be able to validate the information provided by you

You can either scan or take clear photos of the documents with your smartphone and email the documentation to service@zethus.co.nz or fax it to 0800 001 477.

If you’d like to keep an eye on the status of your loan, you can do so by logging into your account that is created during the application process. You can also view your personal details and request to update anything that may be invalid.

All of our loan contracts are valid only for 4 business days. If you applied more than 4 days ago and have decided to wait, you will need to reapply through our Returning Customer section online using your login details you created in the application process. You may need to reset your password if you have forgotten it. Once we have received the documentation that you send through, we will look through it and if there is anything missing, we will contact you promptly to let you know what else we need.


3. Application review

Once we receive your completed application form with supporting documents, we can begin processing your loan.

It is important we get all requested documentation so there is no hold up in processing your loan.

We operate as responsible lenders and it is an important part of our loan process to try to make sure the loan repayments are affordable to you without causing undue hardship.

Once a decision has been made about your application, we will swiftly advise you.


4. Receive the money

If the loan is approved, we will notify you and then transfer your funds to your NZ bank account overnight (if accepted before 4.30pm in order for us to process it in time for that night’s payment cut-off time).

We do have a 30 minute fast payment option but this is currently only available on our ‘Need A Lift’ loans. Conditions and a small fee apply to this option if selected.


5. Repaying the loan

Your quick payday loan will be repaid by direct debit. Our bank direct debits payments overnight on the night/s as stated in your Loan Agreement. (i.e. if you select the 20th of the month, then we will direct debit overnight on the 20th, not the morning of the 20th. If you want it taken on the morning of the 20th, you will need to select the 19th). We will adjust the repayment dates selected if it does not tie to your pay date.

If for any reason you are not able to make a repayment, we may be able to help but a change fee does apply and you must contact us at least 24 hours before your payment is due. If you contact us after this time, we cannot guarantee that a repayment can be stopped.

Please note that there are no penalties for repaying early – the shorter the loan term, the less it will cost – so if you are in a position to make an early payment, we encourage you to do so. We are in the business of helping you, not making your financial situation worse!


Payday Advance Returning Customers

Loans for returning customers are even easier and faster! Simply click the Returning Customers tab in the top right corner of the page, and apply for a new loan by logging into your account. You have to complete a short form and accept the contract and that’s it!

In most cases, you do not have to send any documents for us to process your loan application.

If you want to apply for a new loan, but you don’t remember your password, you can reset it by entering your email address into the reset password box. You will need the mobile you applied with, to receive our SMS Authorisation Code to reset your password. If your mobile has changed or you are on the Skinny network, or you haven’t received the code after ten minutes, then please call us on 0800 227 484 and we will happily assist in resetting your password.
