Money Goals You Can Still Reach by 2017

It’s that time of year again- we are wondering where the past 10 months have gone and evaluating what we have managed to accomplish so far. You may feel as though it’s just another year where little has changed, all resolutions long forgotten.

Don’t panic, there is still time to reach some of your financial goals! Here are some of the most simple money goals you can still reach by 2017.

Building an emergency fund
‘What you save, saves you’. Having an emergency fund to fall back on can be a real life saver when life throws you a hard knock. Everyone has unexpected expenses once in a while; it could be a costly dental or car repair bill- whatever it is, it is usually expensive!

Large expenses that you haven’t budgeted for will leave you strapped for cash and low on options, landing you in more debt. Begin by saving a small amount this week and by the end of the year you could have made a decent start to an emergency fund for 2017!

Giving up an expensive habit
If you’re waiting for this year to be over before you set new goals- you’re wasting precious time. Resolutions don’t have to wait till the new year! Give up at least one of your bad spending habits this week to see a significant improvement in your finances by the time 2017 comes around. Even a small habit could make a difference. For example, cutting out your daily coffee.

Asking for a raise- If you believe you’re due for a pay rise, now is the perfect time to chase your boss up!

Bonuses- If you have the potential to earn an end of the year bonus, make sure you work extra hard to receive it in full.

Side hustling- There are so many ways you can earn yourself some extra cash; sell unwanted items, take part in market research surveys, start a blog, tutoring, babysitting, dog walking and much more

It may not be the best time to jump ship but there are a number of ways to increase your income for example.

Save enough for some Christmas expenses
Christmas is only 7 weeks away. For most of us it’s the most expensive time of year and much of the Christmas joy is overruled by the overwhelming expenses of gifts and x-mas feasts. Use the money you save from breaking your expensive habit to build a Christmas fund and ease the financial burden.
